Sites of Further Becomings
Due to the inherent quality present in the entirety of matter, each object contains more than itself and has the potential to take on another form. According to Deleuze, the concept of "becoming" expresses the transition of an object or being from one specific form to another, indicating continuous change. In this context, "Sites of Further Becomings" is primarily a spatial research project that approaches humanity as part of an evolutionary process of change, while also focusing on new meanings and definitions that arise from the transformation of space in the 21st century, where the media has evolved from being merely observable to an immersive environment.
In this framework, the project aims to utilize the potential of the virtual environment as a space of differentiation, liberating space from the practical fault lines of daily life and reimagining it as something beyond the mere preservation or protection of subjects and actions. By opening up bodies and ways of living to change through differences and deviations, the project speculates on how space can create new forms of interaction and how existing realities can transform space with new potentials and orientations. These speculations are represented through three different media: 2D visual productions derived from a 3D digital model created within the project, as well as video and VR.
"Sites of Further Becomings" was exhibited at the Mamut Art Project in 2024, held at Yapı Kredi Bomontiada, the largest art event in Turkey dedicated to independent and emerging artists.
